Chicago roots run deep... and far

For the past two days I've been covering The Kenya We Want Conference aimed at identifying problems that are stunting Kenya's social and economic growth as a country, offering suggestions for improvement and re-engineering Kenyan society.

Today I did an overall spiel of the economic issues that were discussed and had the chance to interview several dignitaries. But you'll never guess who I bumped into. Mrs. Deloris Jordan of the James R. Jordan Foundation, Yes, Michael Jordan's Mommy!

She says that she fell in love with Kenya 17 years ago and had been traveling back and forth since then, pursuing her mission to aid women and children.

The James R. Jordan foundation is pledging support to help build a hospital, among other resources to aid women and children.

It's an amazing mission and I can't wait to see the work in action.

Stay tuned...
